Sweet Other is an early-access service that helps verified, relationship-minded people meet others nearby. A neighborhood only opens once enough people there have joined. This policy explains what we collect while you’re on the waitlist and as we open your area, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. From you directly:

Collected automatically when you visit:

2. How we use your information

3. Why we’re allowed to use it (legal bases)

Where laws such as the EU/UK GDPR apply, we rely on: taking steps you asked for before/under a contract (putting you on the list and matching you); our legitimate interests in running and securing the service and understanding demand; and your consent for things like abandoned-signup reminders and non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time.

4. Sensitive information

We deliberately do not ask for religion, health, ethnicity, political views, or sexual orientation. “Who you’re seeking” tells us the gender of partner to introduce — it’s used only for matching, and we don’t use it to infer or record your sexual orientation. If we ever add a sensitive field (for example, a faith preference), it will be clearly optional and collected with your explicit opt-in consent, with its own explanation.

5. Cookies, local storage & biometrics

Cookies and local storage. We use a small amount of browser storage to run the site and to remember your privacy choice. With your consent (“Accept all”), we also remember what you’ve started entering — like your email — so we can send the single reminder described above. Choosing “Essential only” turns that off. You can change your mind any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.

Biometrics. Sweet Other does not currently collect biometric identifiers such as face or voice prints. Some features we’re building (for example, audio meetups) involve voice in real time, but we do not create biometric templates from them today. If we ever introduce a feature that does, we’ll give you a specific notice and obtain the consent required by applicable law (such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act) before collecting anything.

6. Who we share information with

We share only with service providers who help us operate, and only what they need:

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and Sweet Other. We never sell your personal information.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your information while you’re on the waitlist or an active member. If you started a signup but didn’t finish, we keep your email only long enough to send the one reminder, then delete it if you don’t continue. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and California’s CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to withdraw consent. You will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, email privacy@sweetother.com. You can unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message.

9. Security & children

We protect your information with encryption in transit and access controls, and we collect as little as we can. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. Sweet Other is only for adults — you must be 18 or older to use it, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

10. Where your information is processed

Sweet Other is operated from the United States, and your information may be processed there and in other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

11. Changes & contact

If we make material changes, we’ll update this page and the effective date above. Questions or requests: privacy@sweetother.com · Terms of Service.
